Homemade A1 Sauce

We went an adventure of creating our own A1 sauce. It turned out good, and we’ll continue tweaking the seasonings to get a rich, smokey, and peppery sauce to add to our sauces.

Much like our adventure in making homemade Worcestershire Sauce, I decided to try making homemade A1 Sauce. I won’t get into the debate of A1 and steak. We use A1 as a dip for chicken, steak, and even use it as a glaze sometimes. It, along with the Worcestershire Sauce, are staples in our house.

I used this A1 Steak Sauce Recipe at InsanelyGoodRecipes.com. I added Dijon mustard with the yellow mustard. I also added a couple of dashes of hickory liquid smoke, and a whole lot more pepper than called for. I used the cayenne pepper and Ancho Chili powder. I used some of our homemade Worcestershire Sauce as well.

Adding just the few items to it, gave it a smokey flavor and a bit of heat. It was very good, and I’ll continue to tweak the amount of seasonings until we land on our own homemade A1 sauce that is a peppery and smokey dip to include with our sauce recipes. Recommend giving a try on making your own, especially if you use A1 quite a bit.

Happy Cooking,
Kortney
